Nice 2014

N1

This race report was submitted by Tony Clixby, after the race in February 2014.

About 3,000 turned out for the Nice Rock n Roll 10 mile race in glorious sunshine on a Sunday morning in February.  Almost half of the runners wore fancy dress – and must have regretted in the in heat – almost 20 degrees..

The course followed the city centre towards the airport before a 180 degree turn along the Promenade Des Anglais and back to the city.

It was then off to the docks and a bit of a meander before heading up Castle Hill at about 8 miles for a punishing stretch..

Support along the course was average. There was one drink station giving people a chance to take liquid on board at the 3 mile and 6 mile points.

A big plus was that this event tied in with the Nice Carnival.

We bought tickets for the flower parade on the Saturday afternoon as well as the evening festival of light……

We spent a day in Monte Carlo and I couldn’t resist a jog through the world famous tunnel, part of the Monaco Grand Prix circuit.

Nice is not far from the Italian border so it was pasta for us eating out on a couple of occasions. China was a bit further away but that didn’t stop us enjoying a Chinese too. Eating out was enjoyable and only a little more expensive than eating back home.

Let’s see what the rest of the year’s Rock n Roll series has to offer!!
