Geneva jaunt

Jo, Mark, John and Jennie spent a few days in Geneva to take part in the 10k evening race. Here’s Jo’s account of the event.

Finally home after an amazing time in Geneva with John, Jenny And Mark.

Had such a laugh on Friday at the expo especially when we collected our race T shirtsπŸ‘•πŸ‘•πŸ‘• πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ figure hugging was an understatement as we had to exchange for the larger sizes. They looked like they had been painted on !! and looking at John in his he’s officially the only ‘gay in the village’..road runners. According to John…Jenny now has a new nightdressπŸ˜‚. Maybe we can get John to model it on Tuesday? ? Or maybe not πŸ˜‰

Then it was off by train to Montreaux πŸš‰ with its stunning scenery and a visit to the Queen studio experience.🎼🎢🎡🎧🎸

Rather than take the train we then walked to Vevey of course lots of coffee and beer stops en route πŸ»β˜• in total we probably walked 20K …not the best idea before a race!

So now the race itself ..the start was a tram ride away πŸš‹and the Swiss were extremely well organised we arrived early and so did the rain β˜”β˜” there we were in our t-shirts and shorts.. freezing ! and others in layers and coats, hats and ..yes sweat bands…flippin loads of them..

What a buzz warming up to ‘We are the Champions’ then we were away πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒ. Of course we soon warmed up and the rain stopped…😊

The course was fast through beautiful countryside 🌳🌲and little villages 🏑…then there was a steep run downhill how no one fell over was a miracle but an opportunity to quicken the pace..πŸƒπŸƒπŸƒRunning back along the lake with jet d’eau in the distance was magical.

Mark and John raced home in under an hour I managed a new PB just over the hour.

Super supporter and cheer leader Jenny was there at the start and finish her support is so much appreciated πŸ’• to be greeted by her infectious smile is just wonderful..Thank you Jenny.😊

We went out to celebrate πŸŽ‰πŸŽ‰ and found a great bar playing 80’s music 🎢 so had to sing along as we knew all the wordsπŸ˜†πŸ‘. We hit Macdonalds at midnight as it was the only place open πŸ”πŸŸa great end to a great day.

Today we watched the elite runners in the Marathon and half before coming back home✈ Thank you Geneva you made us so welcome …

Now to get ready for the next race London vitality 10k…
