VRR in London

A report from John Brown….

What another successful fun packed weekend in the capital ๐Ÿ‡ฌ๐Ÿ‡ง๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ…Started off on Saturday with a train ๐Ÿš„ ride from Liverpool along with members of the super white army ๐Ÿบโšฝ๏ธ , arriving in the city just after noon, the soccer mad amongst us heading off to Wembley ๐ŸŸfor a tense nerve racking 120 minutes of football. Great to catch up with Gary Jenkinson, the tour master general, and Tim Clixby. The rest of the running party headed to the hotel in Balham for an impromptu fully clothed orgy on my hotel bed ๐Ÿ˜ฏ๐Ÿ˜ฏ before heading out to the south bank to rudely interrupt a Brexit protest and turn it into a classic VRR disco party ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ•บled by the legendary king of swing grandad Dave Goodall, ably assisted by Garry Swaby, who introduced his girlfriend to the band of running idiots: what an introduction – she’s one of us now ๐Ÿ˜‚. After partying we went to Balham in search of food..finding an Italian place to cater for us all, most had pasta๐Ÿœsome had pizza๐Ÿ•i had pizza with a topping of ๐ŸŸ It’s the future – you wont get that in Domino’s!

On to Sunday and the Westminster mile..if the alpha males can decide what underground line to get first, tube maps in hand even though some of us had a rough idea where to go..we arrived at Green Park all in good time. This day outshines the whole weekend, not because of the damage to eyes, nose and throats to thousands of runners because of the dreaded London plane๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณ๐ŸŒณpollen, but because this was the return to running for Amy Walker, so great to see her back running with us, and a great time in difficult circumstances. What an inspiration๐Ÿ…๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ As previously reported, a great PB run from Steven Leslie. Most taking part had great results, now relaxing in the warm sunshine, joined by Jack Kiley and his pearls of wisdom and outstanding knowledge of elite Olympians ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚ Who would have come out with Shirley Bassey as an Olympian, and Freya outshining Laura Muir. Another night on the town for some, cultural trips to a west end show for some, tex mex food and beer ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿ—๐Ÿฅฉ๐Ÿ–๐ŸŒญ๐Ÿป๐Ÿป๐Ÿป for the less cultural – think Mark Daniels and Jo Dutton drank more โ˜•โ˜•โ˜•โ˜•โ˜•than i had beer ๐Ÿ˜‚ but another great day. While we were slumming it round London, huge congrats goes out to those who did the Liverpool RnR ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘, great running from all, one runner chose to go egg chasing ๐Ÿ‰round Anfield ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰ On to Monday and crowds and crowds of people gathering to see the mighty warriors of running charging through the capitals normally busy streets of ๐Ÿš—๐Ÿš–๐Ÿšƒ, but for about three hours it belonged to the runners ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ, again the ๐ŸŒณ๐Ÿ˜ทโ˜€๏ธ๐ŸŒกwarm weather brought the pollen out, but again some great running from all of us . And an honourable mention for Tony Clixby from the guys on the Tumbleator.. they’re pleased you are back on your feet and running again.

Again an after race party in the park.. we should do it again next year, we can fly down ๐Ÿ›ฉ now that Donna Mckeown is a qualified pilot. Oh, and the get the best selfie award must surely be mine for the speedo Mick ..I mean who ate Mo Farah and Jessica Ennis anyway ๐Ÿ˜‚ Some of the group stayed the night to carry on partying, the usual suspects ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰ and ate and drank the night away, and that was that, we were done for another year. Balham next year, still places to go to, things to see, and the more Village Road Runners the merrier…. until then, keep on running ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ…๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ•บ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿ’ƒโ˜•โ˜•โ˜•๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ๐Ÿบ
