Delamere adventure

The Delamere Run… Yes weโ€™re going on a bear hunt ๐Ÿป๐Ÿป but all that was there were the 17 eager runners ๐Ÿƒโ€โ™€๏ธ ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธand the doggy ๐Ÿฉ๐Ÿฉ crรจche walkers gathered for this annual pilgrimage into the Cheshire woodland ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ๐ŸŒฒ. Split into two events, those who like the seven mile white route, and those who prefer the gentle four miles round the Great Lake..ably led by grandad Dave so we wouldnโ€™t get lost. We put our trust in a man who couldnโ€™t find his car keys ๐Ÿ”‘๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰ but we never got lost. We did turn back though after the dog walkers shrieked, โ€œCome back – Neil Plested has just arrived! โ€œ We couldnโ€™t leave a man behind because folklore has it that thereโ€™s apes ๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ™Š๐Ÿ™‰๐Ÿ™ˆ๐Ÿต and cheeky monkeys in the woods and we had to stick together. In a scene reminiscent of the railway children, we all waved at a passing train as it passed below us, ๐Ÿš‚ tooting itโ€™s horn in appreciation. The run round the lake was great, the noise from all the wading birds ๐Ÿฆข๐Ÿค๐Ÿฆ๐Ÿง guiding us in the right direction. It was like a rain forest in there: very humid, still air being a breeding ground for the mosquitoes ๐ŸฆŸ๐ŸฆŸ๐ŸฆŸ๐ŸฆŸ Ankles bitten, we completed a steady four miles and were ready for a traditional picnic ๐Ÿงบ๐Ÿบ๐ŸฅŸ๐Ÿฅฎ๐Ÿฅช๐Ÿ— but right on cue ๐ŸŒง๐ŸŒง๐ŸŒง๐ŸŒง torrential rain had us scurrying back to our cars ๐Ÿš— ๐Ÿš™๐ŸŽ, though some did use the waiting room on the station platform as a makeshift restaurant. Shame the rain never held off for another hour – it would have been a fine ending to a very pleasant run on the summer calendar.
