The Dementia Charity Event

Sorry park run πŸƒβ€β™€οΈbut you can wait another weekend – today is something special: an organised run, walk, bit of both, whatever was chosen to do all in aid of a great charity that’s close to many people’s hearts πŸ’• The original route started from Oaklands care home in Bromborough, the runners starting from there mistaking it for the Royal Oak pub πŸΊπŸΊπŸ˜‰, my kind of start πŸ˜‚ but 26 runners had gathered at the Village Hotel 🏨 to set off on our journey, a two mile πŸƒπŸ»β€β™‚οΈπŸƒβ€β™€οΈ to Rock Ferry and the first care home , offerings of tea, fruit πŸŒβ˜•οΈπŸͺ and biscuits and a bit of socialising with the residents before we headed off down the A41 past Lairds, where we saw Boaty McBoatface 🚒, sorry David Attenborough, but boaty does sound more fun! On to Woodside and a run along the riverbank, yes…we saw πŸš£β€β™€οΈ β›΄πŸ›³πŸ›₯, loads of f🀬🀬g boats, though. Sandra Riley gave us a bit of a short cut by following the cycle route 🚲🚲, though we did get a bit of directional confusion. Humoured, we will now refer to poor Sandra as β€œsat nav Sandra β€œ πŸ˜‚ But in fairness, we arrived at Seacombe pretty much in the time we predicted and after a mile run on the promenade, we were at our next destination and by this time some of the more veteran amongst us were probably contemplating booking a room. The residents offered πŸ₯“πŸŒβ˜•οΈπŸ₯€a smorgasbord of sausage and bacon butties: they went down a treat, though it might have been a calorie or two put back on eh Jack Kiley πŸ˜‰πŸ˜‰. This was the end of the line for the majority of the gang, great efforts put in πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ but some of us wanted more 😳 A group carried on to Moreton calling in at another home, the rest of us took on the Liscard to Upton challenge, great to start off with, downhill… but then, you have to pass Bidston…and that is BIG big uphill πŸ˜πŸ˜… By the time we tackled that endurance we were sweating more than the sausages and bacon that were on the grill, but Grandad Dave is a great motivator, kept us going and reaching Upton we still had that last bit of energy to get us to the final port of call, we The Alejandra Charity Event.

We were all needing a room by then πŸ˜‚ Again, refreshments were laid on. Special mention too for those who played πŸš– so most of the runners could complete the full distance, and ferry them back home for a much needed afternoon snooze πŸ› πŸ’€… we’re going back to Upton later for a little party πŸŽ‰ disco Dave Leece will have us all rocking to the classsics…sweeeeeet Caroline bah,bah,bah.πŸ•ΊπŸΌπŸ’ƒπŸŽ€.
